Interview by ToriClarkson.tumblr.com
Before Doctor Who Nina was known for playing Syd Chambers in Eastenders. Her entrance into Doctor Who, however was not one to be forgotten. Guns and Marriage Proposals kept her story line full and exciting, ready for the great twist in the middle of the episode.
When I met her for the interview, what stood out was how chatty and friendly Nina was. We discussed her travels in the Tardis and whether she wants her character Mels to return to another episode at some point.
If you could travel anywhere in time and space in the Tardis, where would you go?
I’d travel back to see the dinosaurs!
You’ve starred in Eastenders and Doctor Who which is quite a big difference in genre, which is your favourite and why?
Most definitely Doctor Who! The characters were worlds apart! Mels was for more fiesty and fun to play. It’s just so much fun!
Was it difficult to play a younger version of a character who is already well-known and popular in the series?
Not at all. I was a pretty moody/naughty teenager so it was quite easy.
You made a large impact in Let’s Kill Hitler. Would you ever be interested in starring in future episodes of Doctor Who?
Every one! But meeting Alex was an incredible. I tried to take on qualities of her character for Mels but she is a very busy lady, and I had to do all my end scenes first. I did get to watch her in action though, and I just learnt from her. I want so much, to do more episodes! I’d love to come back!
What was your favourite line to say in Doctor Who?
Let’s Kill Hitler!
